Frequently Asked Questions

1. How old is the house?
The original four room house was built in 1868 by Leonard C. Prunty, with addition of the south wing of the house (wrap around porch, front parlor and bedrooms on the first and second floors) in 1901.  In 1912 the present-day kitchen was added.

2. Is the house architecture in the true Victorian style?
We have asked several architects to "classify" the Victory Inn by its architectural style and they have been unable to arrive at a consensus.  Old photographs show that the exterior of the home has not changed much since the turn of the 20th century, with the notable wrap-around porch and its columns.

3. What are your room rates?
All room rates include full breakfast and taxes, and are based on double occupancy.

6. Will the Victory Inn accommodate hosted events?
Yes!  We can comfortably accomodate small groups of up to 50 guests, depending on the type of event.

7. What type of events does the Victory Inn accommodate?
The Victory Inn is the perfect venue for holiday parties, bridal or baby showers, Bible study groups, and weddings.  Our gazebo, complete with sound system and lighting, is the perfect romantic spot for your small wedding!  Contact us for special event rates.   And brides love us!  The Victory Inn is a great place for brides to spend a "girls' weekend" with their bridesmaids and friends before their special day.  Pack your PJs and get ready for a weekend of fun and special memories!

8. How many rooms are available in the Victory Inn?  We have four guest rooms.  Three of those rooms comfortably accomodate two people and share a bath in the hallway.  The Miss Victory Suite has a private bath and includes the home's original "sleeping porch".  Newly renovated as a cozy place to read a book or nap, the sleeping porch has a daybed with trundle, making the Miss Victory Suite a great "family room" for those traveling with older children.

9. Do you have or use a catering service for events?
We will be happy to refer you one of our local caterers for your event.  The Victory Inn will also coordinate for chair/table/tent rental for your wedding or other outdoor event.

10. Has anyone famous ever stayed at the Victory Inn?
I guess that sort of depends on your definition of "famous!"  The original owner and builder of our home, Leonard C. Prunty, was a local businessman who operated a ferry across the Kaw River, and owned a lumber yard in Wamego.  Around the time of the Civil War, Mr. Prunty traveled west from Spring Hill (Platte County), Kansas with Wamego "founding father" JC Rogers.  When JC Rogers founded the First National Bank of Wamego, Mr. Prunty was the first vice president.  Mr. Prunty was also a Kansas state senator.
